It was a hands-on experience.Haneeda is a very personable teacher. She is a very warm person. It was a homey xperience. She makes you feel as if you are in your own kitchen. The recipe print outs are easy to follow . You even get a lesson on the different Indian spices. This wonderful experience ended when we sat down at the formal dining room table and savored the foods that we made. You also leave with a goody bag of spices.

I've been wanting to take a cooking class for some time, but as I am a vegetarian, my options are limited. So, I was really excited when a friend told me about Haneeda's Kitchen because she offers not just one, but TWO vegetarian cooking class options!

The class was a lot of fun. I learned how to prepare a dal, a paneer dish, rice & peas, roti (Indian flatbread) and mango lassi. Along the way I learned a ton of valuable tips and tricks- Haneeda really knows how to demystify things and explain concepts clearly.

I highly recommend the cooking classes offered by Haneeda and hope to sign up for another one soon!

Haneeda's class was very hands-on and enjoyable. The diverse variety of Indian spices has always been kind of intimidating to me, but Haneeda provided thorough explanations which I took to my own kitchen. Her upbeat personality and love for cooking makes the class fun. She prepared a nice folder of all the recipes and the food was fantastic. I'm looking forward to another class!

I took the South Indian Favorites class, and it was great! The experience was very cool, and the food was incredible. I cook Indian food at home, but this was a great introduction to some spices that I was unfamiliar with. Haneeda is a great teacher, and very personable. I highly recommend the South Indian Favorites!

My girlfriend and I took a Saturday morning class and we absolutely loved Haneeda and all the food we made. She expertly walked us through making 6 indian dishes from start to finish. All of the dishes were easy to make in any kitchen and were super delicious. If you have even a moderate interest in Indian food, you will love Haneeda's classes.

Indian restaurants are my very favorite and I have always wanted to know how to prepare Indian food. Many unsuccessful attempts at home convinced me I needed to learn from someone experienced in cooking authentic Indian dishes. What a treat when a friend gave me a gift certificate to Haneeda’s Kitchen. I attended my first class (Vegetarian #2) on a Saturday morning; the experience was unforgettable. We made 6 dishes, all of them delicious and easy to make. Haneeda limits class size so all of us were able to work as a team and share in the cooking of each dish. I am anxious to take another class and certainly will do so in the near future. Tonight’s menu is - Indian cottage cheese cubes in a creamy green spinach sauce (Saag Paneer or Paalak Paneer) and basmati rice cooked with aromatic whole spices and a colorful mix of vegetables (Vegetable Pulao). Yum!

This class was a GREAT birthday present!

My wife and I had never taken a cooking class and thought Haneeda was a great teacher. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning how to use spices and make healthy and tasty indian food dishes in our own kitchen. There is no better way to learn indian cooking than hands-on with Haneeda. She is obviously passionate about teaching people to love indian food and makes you feel comfortable while learning something new.

One of the best parts was sitting down to try what we had made. All we can say is, YUM.

We look forward to taking another cooking class with Haneeda.

My husband loves Indian food, but I don't know how to cook it. I was always very intimidated by all the different names of spices and don't know where to start. Haneeda was very patient and showed us step by step to create 5 delicious dishes for a meal. I also got 2 well-packaged small portion spices from her, I just love the smell of them!! Now my husband can enjoy a home made Indian meal!! No more Trader Joe's package Indian food...

Great time! My boyfriend set this up as a Valentine's gift and we were delighted with the class Haneeda taught. It was a nice small class size so it was very hands on and you know everything that is taking place so you don't miss something when you get home and try to cook. We were on the front page of the Philadelphia inquirer today with Haneeda and another student in her kitchen! Recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed my "hands-on" cooking class with Haneeda. My wife arranged the class as a birthday gift, which was very unique and much appreciated. Haneeda is a great and personable teacher. She provided an excellent overview of the many spices used in all dishes. We prepared Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani), Cauliflower with Green Peas, Eggplant (Khatte Baigan), Naan (bread), and Sooji Halwa (dessert). Every dish was excellent. I can't wait to try out the recipes at home. I highly recommend Haneeda's cooking class to anyone interested in fine Indian cuisine.

Cooking with Haneeda was a fun night with delicious food, but by far the best part of it was all of the incredible Indian food I have cooked in the months since then! I really learned from her. Not only have I recreated all of the dishes I learned with Haneeda (several times with with delicious success) I also felt like I learned enough about Indian cooking to try new recipes. As a result I have branched out and been cooking other dishes as well. I truly gained some Indian cooking skills as a result of this one night. My husband and friends are in heaven!

Thank you so much for your class on 2/7/12. I had only had Indian food once and was not impressed. Your class was great and the food was wonerful. You made the cooking seem simple and easy to do. We made Balti potatoes which were great and Channa masala which was excellent, and I didn't like chick peas. I am very excited about cooking these at home. I must say I was pleasantly suprised by the evening presentation at middletown library. I have never had Indian food and I am not Vegan so I didnt know what to expect. While i think the class might have been geared to people who had some inkling of what was going on Haneeda answered all questions as honestly as she could and was easy to follow as a newbie. Very friendly and straightforward on her concept of healthy Indian cusine that doesnt require a ton of ingredients or time.

And as far as the Vegan thing goes, as a meat eater myself I would be completely satified eating the meals she presented. It was DELICIOUS!

This was my second class with Haneeda; I so enjoyed the first that I knew I wanted to try another class. I also had a friend join me to share the experience of how easy and delicious cooking Indian food at home can be. Haneeda greeted us at the door and showed us the way to her new teaching kitchen. That in itself was a delight, however, the menu she planned was a true pleasure. The main course, Chicken Kheema Mattar, unbelievably delicious and a snap to make; Aloo Tikki (warm, crisp patties with potato and spices) were fun to ‘construct’ and could be served as an appetizer or as a vegetable side dish with any meal - not just Indian; Basmati Rice Pulao was a favorite on my first visit and did not disappoint this time time either; and the Raita - we used crunchy vegetables and real sour cream for a thick and creamy compliment to our exciting, spicy, and delectable meal. Both classes I have taken with Haneeda have been a true culinary adventure and I can’t wait to take another class - soon!

Our Haneeda’s kitchen experience on 2/25/12 was just a delight in every way. Well organized, thoughtful, printed and personal instruction with display of and thoughtful background about Indian spices and ingredients from the lovely, energetic, bright, cheerful and knowledgeable Haneeda herself. We did everything to give us confidence that we could do it again from recipe; selection of ingredients, hand preparation of each course and individual work at the stove. And was it ever delicious when done! Better than all the Indian restaurants we’ve ever been to. Paul

I couldn’t recommend Haneeda’s classes more!

I’ve been getting more and more into cooking for sometime now, and was initially intimidated about learning Indian cooking because of what I perceived as it and the spices being complex. Haneeda classes break everything down and make it so incredibly simple: we start with printed out recipes, then a review of the dominant spices used in cooking, and finally cooking itself and getting to eat what we all make.

Haneeda really has a gift for making even the most complex dish seem very simple to make. She is incredibly warm, generous, and an outstanding instructor. The classes are so much fun and small so that there is a lot of individualized attention. Haneeda even throws in historical facts and culture tidbits about India as it relates to the cooking.

I have done two classes so far, and find myself coming back again and again to learn as many new dishes as I can (to the point where I am rearranging my weekly schedules so I can make it to the classes). Aside from being fun and relaxing, it’s also very empowering to learn these dishes I have long loved at Indian restaurants and being able to cook them myself.

My husband and I have enjoyed eating out at Indian restaurants for years, and as a surprise Mothers Day gift I received a cooking lesson voucher to Haneeda's Kitchen. I got to go on the website to choose which day to take the lesson based on what was being offered.

My experience was terrific and Haneeda is a wonderful, easygoing person to learn from. I learned the key spices to use and she even wrote down the name of a good Indian supermarket in Exton to shop at which I did this week. I took my recipe printouts and made the same dishes at home for my husband for our 15th anniversary. Duplicating the recipes at home in my own kitchen was easy, except for not having the short cuts of a rice steamer or pre-cut onions!

I learned how to cook Tandoori chicken without a clay oven. I learned how to make Dal (lentils) which the Indian supermarket is filled with. I decided on substituting lentils with chick peas and added indian cubed cheese. It was delcious. One of my favorite dishes included cauliflower. And sign up to learn the secret of ghee and which 3 spices give Basmati rice that wonderful taste and aroma.

I would love to sign up for another class. Thanks for a great experience Haneeda!

I signed up my girlfriend and I for the Valentines Day class and it was better than what I expected in the sense that the atmosphere was friendly, inviting and relaxed. We felt like we were guests for dinner. Haneeda was friendly, informative and comforting. The group were a part of, there were 7 of us, was energetic as well.

My girlfriend and I are avid fans of Indian food so when the opportunity arose to learn how to cook it, we were both interested. The dishes were simply amazing as Haneeda prepared them to accommodate all persons tolerance of spice. Since these dishes were made from scratch it was nice to see the entire process, start to finish. Each attendee had the chance to participate hands-on during the class. Haneeda had most of the prep work ready to go so no time was wasted on doing things that even a novice chef can handle, i.e. cubing potatoes and chicken, chopping cilantro and onions etc. During the lesson we were able to take notes and ask questions freely, which she was more than happy to answer.

Upon completion of the cooking, the sit down lunch was phenomenal. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We were even given our own Valentines Day gift; a box of Garam Masala! We are planning to attend another lesson next month. As it turns out, my cousin had also attended two of her classes the year before! Best part is, Haneeda only lives 5 minutes from us!

Would recommend this to anyone even remotely interested in Indian cuisine. Entirely worth it!

I've always thought that cooking Indian food was difficult because I didn't know when to add ingredients, how long to cook them and basic information about the taste of certain spices and why they are used in certain dishes. It was a wonderful experience and I would certainly recommend it to anyone. It was a valentine day activity for my wife and me. We truly enjoyed the experience.

Haneeda is an excellent hostess. She's quite outgoing and engaged the group very well. She made everyone feel welcome and made sure that everyone got to participate. She also made sure to give some good basic instructions to follow when cooking Indian food.

The kitchen area is quite roomy for more than enough space around the cooking island for 10 people. The kitchen itself is well equipped and lacked for nothing.

The quality and quantity of ingredients were excellent. We learned about a large number of Indian spices, and cooked butter chicken, samosas, Balti potatoes, and basmati rice pulao. The food was delicious and abundant. We were overstuffed by the time we finished lunch.

I would highly recommend for couples and group activities.

My husband and I attended Haneeda's Kitchen Indian cooking school after receiving a gift certificate. The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish! Haneeda is friendly and outgoing and made the class so much fun. She creates a very relaxed environment and everything is very well organized down to the last detail. We learned four different recipes and everyone was involved in the cooking process. We learned about and used many different Indian spices and made four amazing recipes. With Haneeda as our guide, everything was perfectly timed so that we could sit down at the end of the class and enjoy the fabulous dinner we made. I plan to make all of the recipes at home and will probably start with the samosas, which were superb and will be great for entertaining. Haneeda even followed up with me a few days later on a question I had about changing the samosa frying method, after testing the alternate method herself! We highly recommend Haneeda's Kitchen and are looking forward to taking more classes there.

I celebrated my 30th birthday with Haneeda's Kitchen and I kid you not, everything about it was wonderful. We had a private class with my friends and family. Haneeda has a lovely home and she makes it yours as soon as you walk in the door. It a was hands on experience, with thorough instruction and impressive execution. Haneeda has everything prepped and ready, the timeline worked out just right weaving 4 different dishes together for our meal! She surprised me with special birthday decorations and dessert at the end! If you are looking to try something new and you love to cook, this is BY FAR the way to go! We all had a total blast. Haneeda is wonderful. So glad she shares her skills and knowledge with all of us! Hope you enjoy too.

This was our second visit to Haneeda's Kitchen, we made a family day out of it w/ myself, my wife and 10 year old daughter. We all had a blast and learned even more the second outing plus got to enjoy very tasty dishes at the end of the class. We have duplicated several of her dishes at home already, she tries to make them as simple as possible. I most definitely recommend as a family day and also for couples and singles too. We have already signed up for round three, keep up the good work Haneeda.

My husband and I have 8 children and they all love Indian food. That restaurant bill can be expensive! I was so excited to find Haneeda's Kitchen in a previous visit to PA that I booked another trip specifically to take a class from her. SHE WAS AMAZING!! We were trying to learn so many things, I was afraid the class would have a frantic vibe about it, but it was laid back, relaxing and an incredible experience! She was very organized and flowed easily from one thing to the next. She explained the spices and taught us how to cook our families favorite Indian dishes and explained everything in an easy to understand way. Her teaching style and tips made me feel reassured that cooking these recipes would be easy and doable at home! I am so so very excited to share what I've learned with my children! Thank you Haneeda! If I get out here again, we will be back!!

What an amazing class! For those of you that love Indian food but need to master the spices, let Haneeda show you the way! The class inspired me to cook Indian at home; I'm off to buy my rice cooker, garam masala and ghee! Thanks Haneeda! We'll be back!

Thank you for an enjoyable, educational and inviting cooking class, followed by our product of a delicious Indian Vegan dinner at the close. You certainly have things down pat in such an organized manner, and do a great job of convincing your students that we can make delicious Indian cuisine as easy as pie! Loved your set-up and everything behind the tasty dishes.
Thanks again, and a grand thanks to my daughter-in-law who purchased this class as a gift to me.
With appreciation, Joan Holliday

Prepared a full meal together learning ingredients, prep, handling spices, where to shop, and lots of cooking tips. Then we sat down together to a tasty meal. Felt Julia Child's approval of it all. Definitely plan to join Haneeda for another class. Bon appetit!

I attended one of Haneeda's classes this past weekend and it was really excellent. Haneeda is warm, engaging, so knowledgeable and a self acknowledged "foodie" so you know that what we cooked was delicious. She should be on the Food Network. The class was so organized and fun. We learned about Indian spices, the importance of cooking in layers to let the spices meld, how to be patient with yeast and how to be a little free flowing with the recipes. There were hands on activities and a full sit down meal served family style of what we cooked. Can't wait to go back for another class.
